It’s easier to act your way into a new way of thinking, than to think your way into a new way of acting.
∼ A.J. Jacobs.
As I thought about this quote, it made sense. Most days, we try to think about how we are going to change, what we are going to do, how we are going to start going to the gym, or going to bed early, or going on that diet, or start doing that think we have always wanted to do. And rarely it does happen.
I really find it true that when we act a certain way, our mind catches up.
If you act like a person who wakes up early and exercise, soon your mind will catch up and you will start thinking like that person.
It is like Tony Robbins and Tim Ferris say : “instead of mind over body, how about body over mind”
If you’re feeling depressed, change your body, move around. Smile, go outside and go for a run, or a walk. make your body move,…. And when you change your physiology, your psychology has no choice but to change.
An other quote from A.J. Jacobs : “Act as if you are courageous and you will become a little more courageous”.
