There is this argument about what role do one play in a relationship? Is it a complementary role (In the bible, men and women are created with different abilities, so there are things a woman can do, that a man can’t do and vice versa, that’s why they complement each other) or an egalitarian role (This is based on the biblical view that men and women are both created in God’s image, hence they are equal).
When I heard these points of view, I was confused because I do believe in God and I respect God’s word, the bible. Then I heard Rachel Cruze give a talk on Money and Marriage and she ended her talk with this advice she got from her dad:
“It doesn’t matter whether you believe in a complementary or an egalitarian relationship; Just SERVE each other. If every single day you served each other, and strive to get better at it, you don’t have to worry about anything else.
I couldn’t agree more! I hope it resonate.
