Hi All!
Here is your weekly dose of “5-Frank Points Friday,” a list of what I’m pondering and exploring.
Running my first marathon ever –
Tomorrow, (Saturday 14th) I’m really excited to get to run my first marathon ever (26.2miles/42.17km) called the Veterans Marathon and Heroes 5K to honor and support our veterans! Honestly, I hate running so I never trained for this marathon but I want to see how far I can push my body and my mind. I have hip problems, every time I run for a long time, my hips dislocate and they hurt really bad and I can’t walk for days. But I believe I can finish 26 miles and I’m going to do it with all I got. As MLK said “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”
My goal is to get to the finish line, however long it takes me!
Drink I have been enjoying –
Cold Whole Buttermilk (Ikivuguto) – Those from Rwanda know what I’m talking about! Buttermilk is one of the best drink I used to enjoy back in Rwanda, and it’s very hard to find here in the US. We were driving around the other day, I was complaining how I was going to drive for about 10 min to get to the store and then my wife said, why don’t we go to Kroger, It’s right around the corner! I was surprised that we have a Kroger in my small town! We’ve been living here for over 3 years and I had no idea! Then I remembered that they have buttermilk, my favorite drink from childhood, since then I have been drinking it every night before bed! It is not quite as good as the one back home, but it is the closest thing we have here and from now on I’ll make sure I have at least 2 cartons of it in my fridge!
If you’re interested in buying it, here is a picture of what it looks like so you don’t get a different one.
Question! –
If you can’t sit down in a dark, quiet place for some time everyday, with yourself and your thoughts, to really figure out who you are, what you are, what you’re about,… what makes you think other people are supposed to get you?
If you don’t know yourself, how can others do?
What I’m thinking –
Stop giving advice! Unless you have achieved some success in the thing you are giving advice about, please don’t bother. If you have been divorced 5 times, I don’t want your advice on how to have a wonderful long time marriage. If you’re broke, don’t have any money, I don’t want your advice on how to be rich. If you have a few pounds more, don’t talk about how to be in shape!
You don’t have to have AIDS to teach people that getting it, is bad. You don’t have to have a company or a business you lead to teach people how to lead, by all means please teach them, we need you but for the others stop giving advice!
If you don’t want to be poor, talk to poor people; but if you want to be wealthy, talk to wealthy people!
Quote I’m pondering –
“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.“
And, as always, please give me feedback on Twitter. Which point above is your favorite? What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions? Please let me know. Just send a tweet to @realfrankibanga and put #5FrankPointsFriday at the end so I can find it.
Have a wonderful weekend, all.
Much love to you and yours,
Frank
