As suggested by Celeste Headlee in her Ted Talk:
- Don’t multitask. (be present)
- Don’t pontificate. (assume you can learn something new)
- Use open ended. questions
- Go with the flow. (follow the conversation, not what you thought the conversation would be like)
- If you don’t know, say you don’t know.
- Don’t equate your experiance with theirs.
- Try no to repeat yourself.
- Stay out of the weeds. (people don’t care about the little details)
- Listen.
- Be brief. (“A good conversation is like a miniskirt; short enough to retain interest, but long enough to cover the subject”)
