Believe in them

When a refugee is telling you his/her story and what they went through to be where they are now, they don’t want you to feel sorry for them, they want you to believe in them.

It’s one thing to hear someone’s story and end up speechless because you can’t imagine what they went through or what they had to do to be where they are now, it’s another thing to hear them and say ‘if you can go through that and still be here, if you can have the courage to do what you did and still be standing here and still fighting, I believe you will get whatever it is you’re looking for, I believe in you, keep making a ruckus!’

From experience, it makes a difference!
